Meet MORTICIA!

Parents, meet Morticia, our newest class member! She's a juvenile Honduran Curly Hair Tarantula! I will be keeping her at school with us for the next few weeks until the weather gets too cold ... but the kids sure are enjoying seeing her!

Fall Fun!

Hi Parents :)

Somer Christensen came in to do some fun, spooky sunset art with our kiddos.  Happy Friday! Can you believe it's only two weeks until we go off-track?  WOW!

Amazing Work

Hi parents!

We recently completed our fall art wall... kids had to use awesomely fantastic adjectives to describe their favorite things about fall. This covered opinion writing AND grammar for this week! Then, we tied in some art (of course - who wouldn't?) to make it even more fun... and I'll tell you, your kids are amazing artists!

As we head towards going off-track, you will notice more Halloween-inspired art and work coming home. I love the wonderful imagery that comes with the change in the weather!

Enjoy the lovely weekend weather, and check out our artists!

Crazy week!

Hi parents :)

My apologies for not updating the blog sooner... I've just begun my masters program, so I am both teaching AND going to school myself. I fully intend upon posting some fun pictures from this Friday's art lesson with Mrs. Christensen, and we are also working on a fun writing assignment using adjectives... I will post some great examples so you can see some of the fun things we do in class!

I wish you all a fabulous week! Thanks for being so wonderful to work with!

Times Tables!

Parents, we have now started multiplication timed tests... kids have to pass 18/20 questions in a one-minute timing. For now, some are on x2, some on x3, and some have just made it to x4. I highly recommend having your child practice... we are starting 2x1 multiplication next week...

Some ideas for how to make it fun: if you have an iPad, there are two awesome games. One is called "King of Math", which is a great program b/c it's adaptive to your child's learning. The other is "Math Zombies" which is great for kids who want a more fun, basic fact game. These are both awesome and I use them in my classroom (or will, as soon as the iPad lab is back to us!).

Thanks and happy math gaming!
